There is a lot of fitness content out there. Some of it is great. Some of it is loud. And if you are a coach, trainer, manager, educator, or anyone working in health and fitness, you have probably felt that tension: so much information, so little clarity.
That is exactly why we are launching The Training Room, a podcast designed to cut through the noise and bring the conversation back to what matters.
Not with lectures. Not with textbook language. But with real talk, real experience, and evidence based practice you can actually use.
Welcome to The Training Room, brought to you by Lionel University.

Fitness professionals are navigating an industry that changes fast and not always for the better.
Social media has become the loudest teacher in the room. It can be an incredible source of ideas and exposure, but it can also blur the line between what is useful and what is simply trending. That makes it harder for professionals to sort through the noise, stay grounded in what works, and confidently guide clients and communities.
We are seeing constant waves of:
The result is noise, confusion, and imposter syndrome. A lot of smart professionals are doing their best to serve people while trying to keep up.
The Training Room exists to help solve that by creating a space that is clear, evidence based, and human.
To us, The Training Room is a place to do two things really well.
This podcast is built around evidence based practice. The kind of education that helps you coach better, think clearer, and make decisions you can stand behind.
It is not about being academic for the sake of being academic. It is about translating high level science into actionable, practical, real world information you can use immediately.
The work matters, but the industry is full of moments that are hilarious, awkward, unexpected, and sometimes absurd.
We want this to feel like the conversations you actually have with trusted peers. The ones where you learn something valuable, then laugh because yes, we have all seen that.
In short, serious work delivered in a way that feels human.
The Training Room is built for the people in the arena:
This show is for health and fitness professionals, not just fitness consumers.
One of the most important conversations we had early on was this question.
What feels noisy in fitness and what actually matters?
Social media is not the enemy, but it is often the loudest voice. It rewards content that is flashy, extreme, controversial, and new. That can pull attention away from what is sustainable, evidence based, and effective.
A lot of what we are attracted to in fitness looks cool, but it is not always built to last.
The truth is simple.
The basics still work.
They do not need to be fancy. They need to be sound. And they need to be consistent enough to stick.
A principle we keep coming back to is simplicity plus consistency equals success.
The basics are not always exciting, but they are what help real people make real progress.
We are not launching The Training Room because we want to add to the noise.
We are launching it because we want to build something different.
What is exciting is the ability to connect with listeners and with each other and to explore topics that shape our field in a way that is fun, lighthearted, and still focused on outcomes. Teaching and learning should not feel stiff, and this show is built to keep it approachable while staying grounded.
What is exciting is connecting with the movers and shakers of the industry. Some are familiar. Some are brand new. Learning what it took for them to get where they are is part of what makes this podcast meaningful. It is a chance to spotlight the people doing important work and bring listeners into conversations that help them grow.
We kept introductions intentionally human, because titles are not the point. The work is.
Co host of The Training Room and unofficially but confidently the number one fitness professional from Wyoming. Mostly because there are not a lot of fitness professionals there, and somebody has to hold the title.
Co host of The Training Room, brought to you by Lionel University. John has been in the fitness industry since the nineteen hundreds, with experience as a trainer, educator, and manager.
Also yes, he once did pushups with Justin Bieber, the other JB.
This show will be built around:
At the end of the day, we are here for the same reason you are.
To get better at what we do and help others do the same.
We are excited to bring this podcast to life, and even more excited to bring you into it.
